I choose my expression by colour.
From an initial background in black & white photography I learned to appreciate colour. When I take a photo I need to express the feeling I have observing the scene, its intensity and the emotions it brings up in me.
Some of the ingredients of the final result come from my inner self, some from coloured light.
The photographic art above represents some of the works shown at the Art Nuvo Exhibition.
Listen to ABC Coast FM interview of Jon Neilson by John Stokes 23/11/05
"Jon has utilised digital photography to compose the subject, colour and style and stimulate the visual perception in his images. What strikes me most about this work is its boldness and the diversity of the styles in the design. Not only is the content in some images made ambiguous, it strikes a note of discord or disharmony, challenging our traditional views of photographic expression.
In many cases the images are not only digitally enhanced, but demonstrate a wonderful control of the picture area, sustaining our visual experience beyond the subject and carrying us into the subconscious of the artist."
